Review: Oct. 26, 2005 For
the price, this place is a joke. First of all, the hotel provides
each room with single ply toilet paper. What kind of hotel does this?
As I entered the bathroom, it smelled like terrible body odor. The
bathtub had rust stains in it and the tissues were soaking wet for
some reason. The tv got only 6 stations and the valet parking could
not accomidate my SUV in their lot. For dinner the pasta special was
out by 7:30 and when I ordered my pumpkin pie for dessert...it was
$6.00! If you have other options, use them because this place is not
worth your money.
Review: Oct. 12nd, 2005 I'll start with the good - the
staff. They were very apologetic about the condition of this hotel.
There was nothing they could do about it, except apologize and take
the brunt of complaints. Hopefully, they are all looking for new
jobs!
There isn't enough room to write about how horrible the Ponchartrain
Hotel is. It is a historical landmark and it is a shame that it
is in such disrepair. Our room had mold in the bathroom, sheets
of wallpaper falling off the walls, carpet & bedspread that
hadn't been cleaned since they opened. The escalator was out of
order and the elevators worked occasionally (we were on the 28th
floor). We were told they will soon be under the Sheraton flag and
will be doing renovations. But until that happens, if it happens,
do not stay here.
Review: Aug. 13th, 2005 Hotel was very Deceiving. Lobby
was very nice and the staff seemed friendly but beyond that it wasn't
how it seemed. The rooms were a bit tatty, well not a bit actually
a lot and the hallways were really in bad shape, but with it being
close to the Cobo Center and Joe Louis Arena we put up with it.
If I want to go to the Joe louis again I would probably stay there
just for the location. It was really bad though so If you can't
deal with a not so fancy hotel then don't stay here. If you don't
give a hoot and want to be across the street from the Cobo and Joe
Louis then stay!
