Reviews: Oct 6, 2005 Days Inn downtown
Detroit is about 3-4 miles from downtown, in a busy-traffic avenue,
and surrounded by a decadent (and dangerous) neighborhood. In the
pictures (online) the place and the hotel dependences look good,
but in reality, this hotel is badly battered by a negligent ownership/management.
The building is old, as is the pale painting that covers its scraped
walls. A dried and abandoned pool seats on the side of the reception
room. Rooms and bathrooms are tiny, run down, and pitifully decorated.
Carpet shows signs of dirt and mold. Right in front of the room
they assigned to me there was an amount of abandoned construction
dejects, mixed with bricks and dirt (it felt as if it was a slum.)
The breakfast is limited to the bare minimum, and within such an
environment, it looks (and probably taste) even worst than you might
expect. Finally, the personnel is neither friendly nor trained.
With all of that I had to swallow a U$87.00 nightly rate booked
through the online reservation service "hotels.com". What
a disgrace. Days Inn and hotels are not being fair to the general
customers. Be aware when you book online.
